Compassion Fatigue for Helping Professionals
This training is designed to support workers and workplaces in the fields of public service. This program discusses the difference between compassion fatigue and burnout, how compassion fatigue presents itself in helping professionals, how compassion fatigue can affect relationships with clients, and how to prevent adverse effects and respond well if we identify we are feeling this way with clients. This program is helpful for workplaces where there may be prolonged exposure to difficult cases or systemic issues that complicate successful outcomes with clients.
Dealing With Trauma
in the Work Place
In this program we discuss the ways that trauma can infiltrate our work lives or affect our home lives. We talk about the window of tolerance, instinctual responses to trauma, how to cope and make a personal plan for handling trauma at work, and how to support peers. This program is designed for organizations that may handle crisis regularily, be exposed to concerning images or case details, or work in helping fields. Take-home materials are supplied.
Helping Peers through WorkplaceStress and Burnout
In this program we discuss ways that burnout can be so common in our work or life in general. Specifically, we focus on ways to spot it in others and how to be a support to our peers and supervisees. We also talk about the importance of self-care and ways to incorporate it so that we can effectively support those around us. This program is beneficial for organizations where there is a high work load that may create unmanageable stress for employees and supervisers.
Workplace Mindfulness
In this program we talk about what it means to be mindful in our lives and in the workplace. We talk about recognizing all the things that could potentially be important and how to prioritize what is most important in the situation at hand. This requires us to be able to check in with ourselves and guage areas of stress, as well as how to work through those areas. This workshop incorporates elements of time management skills, stress management, and self-awareness to equip staff to practice mindfulness in their personal and professional lives.
The Roots Feed the Tree: Mental Health and Addictions Information and Support Workshop for Churches
When we see a tree, we see what is above the ground… the trunk, branches, leaves, and fruit. What we don’t see is the deep and intertwined system of roots that supports and feeds the tree. When we are faced with the reality of mental health and substance use challenges, we see what’s above the surface too – the behaviours and patterns of the person who is struggling, a person we care deeply about. What we often don’t consider enough are the deep and intertwined systemic realities that feed mental health and substance use difficulties. These systemic roots, things like family, culture, history, economics, racism, government policy, and more need to be part of the discussion of mental health and addictions. This presentation will talk about how addressing mental health and addictions is very challenging, but also about the beautiful opportunities there are for churches to show love and build community and connect people with important community resources when they need help.
Just like our name suggests, we’re passionate about providing high quality mental health training and support to workplaces in Regina and Saskatchewan.
